Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Popular TV host Vhong Navarro and ‘The X-Factor Philippines’ Season One champion KZ Tandingan filled to capacity the cavernous MCC gymnasium, in capital town Tubod during their recent concert here to highlight the 56th Charter Day celebration of this progressive province.
An estimated 8,000 spectators converged at the concert venue to witness their singing idols perform their hit songs live. Another 5,000 people composed mostly of families were camped out at the MCC grounds watching the concert through a huge video screen awaiting for the annual musical fireworks to begin.
“This is one of my most memorable concerts, ang sarap ng feeling pagbuong gym ay sumasabay sa bawat kanta mo”, expressed Tandingan after the sold-out concert.
Kristine Zhenie Lobrigas Tandingan, more popularly known as KZ Tandingan rose to fame after emerging as the first season champion of ‘The X-Factor Philippines’. Shortly after her win, she was declared as ‘Best New Artist’ during the 2012 Aliw Awards. Last 2014, KZ Tandingan also won as ‘Favorite Female Artist’ at the MYZ Music Awards.
Among her hit songs are her own version of ‘Killing me Softly’ and ‘Puro Laro’.
Meantime, Vhong Navarro’s song and dance number electrified the mammoth crowd inside the MCC gym.
“Ang sarap balik-balikan dito sa Lanao del Norte. Gusto niyo ba na pagbalik ko dito kasama ko na ang buong ‘Showtime’ family ko? Kasi napaka-peaceful at ang ganda dito sa Lanao del Norte”, said Navarro during his performance.
Navarro was part of the dance group ‘Streetboys’ before Director Chito Roño discovered and managed his career.
Navarro’s hit songs include ‘Pamela’ and ‘Totoy Bibbo’. ‘Pamela’ became so popular that it was later turned into a movie titled ‘Otso-otso’ with him in the lead role.
Immediately after the jam-packed concert, Governor Khalid Dimaporo together with Congresswoman Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo led the countdown at the MCC grandstand for the highly-anticipated pyro-musical display dubbed as ‘Ilaw ng Lanao del Norte’.
This year’s theme for the musical fireworks display is ‘Rain of Fire’ and featured songs like ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ by One Direction, ‘Let It Go’ from Disney’s animated movie ‘Frozen’, and ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry.
The world-class musical fireworks display capped the week-long festivities of the 56th ‘Araw ng Lanao del Norte’. VNL/PIO-LDN
