Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Government, who is now heading the Senate hearing on the controversial Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) was here in this fast-rising province to consult with town mayors and youth leaders.
The consultation meeting was held on June 20, 2015 at the world-class Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) Hotel, Brgy. Sagadan, in the capital town Tubod.
Once passed into law, six towns of Lanao del Norte will vote in a plebiscite to determine if they will continue to remain part of Lanao del Norte or be a part of the newly created Bangsamoro government.
“The people know the difference in the quality of service we provide here in Lanao del Norte. They know that their leaders here from the municipal level up to the provincial level are working hard for them. They see with their own eyes that we are doing our very best to improve their lives”, declared Governor Khalid Dimaporo.
Sen. Marcos has been conducting several public hearings to get the different opinions and stand of various sectors here in the island of Mindanao. Through dialogues and consultations, Marcos hopes to craft a better BBL that would truly represent the aspirations of all stakeholders and create a law free from constitutional malady.
The visit of Sen. Marcos also coincides with the month-long celebration of the 56th Araw ng Lanao del Norte which will culminate on July 4, 2015.
After his consultation meeting in Lanao del Norte , Senator Marcos and his team then proceeded to Pagadian City to join in its 46th Charter Day celebration. VNL/PIO-LDN
