Tubod, Lanaodel Norte – Employees of the Provincial Information Office (PIO), Provincial Community Affairs Office (PCAO) and Project Management Office(PMO) visited the mental health patients treated at the Happy Home Foundation, Inc., in Maramag town, Bukidnon province.
More than thirty provincial employees of the Lanao del Norte LGU endured the 6-hour travel from the capital town of Tubod to the progressive town of Maramag on December 19, 2014 to share their blessings and simple gifts to the often neglected and forgotten patients of said mental health facility.
“This year, God has given us so much blessings not only financially but more importantly good health in our families and success in our personal and professional undertakings”, explained Information Officer Lyndon Calica.
Patients received used clothing, food packs, fruits, and toiletries. To provide entertainment for patients, the PGLDN Band performed some of the latest hitsongs as employees danced with patients.
To raise donations for the visit, the group solicited used clothings, bath soaps and shampoos from various offices of the provincial government. To raise funds, to purchase some basic needs of patients, the employees also conducted caroling activities during Christmas season.
Common mental health problems noted among the patients include mental retardation, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse problems and eating disorders. VNL & LAR/PIO-LDN
