Mendez, Department Head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on behalf of Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo on October 1, 2017 at the Iligan City Public Plaza.

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte stands with the people of Marawi. Since the war broke out last May 23, 2017, The Provincial Government under the strong leadership of Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo has work tirelessly to provide aid to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuge in the peaceful province of Lanao del Norte. The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and the Provincial Health Office regularly conduct relief and medical operations to all municipalities where evacuation centers for IDPs are located.

Annabelle S. Mendez, PSWDO and Dr. Melania A. Untao, PHO have worked hand in hand in partnership with non-government organizations and government agencies to address the basic needs of the IDPs, especially the nursing mothers and her children, the elderly, and the persons with disabilities.

The message of Governor Angging read by Mendez, the Governor thanked Secretary Jesus G. Dureza who has never been tired in helping our President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for continuously finding ways to achieve an everlasting peace not only in Mindanao but throughout the country.

The Governor said, the peace and order of Lanao del Norte remains intact, thanks to the Municipal Mayors who have pledged their support to the Provincial Government in any ways that would bring progress and development to our province. The multicultural diversity that Lanao del Norte has were never a barrier to attain and sustain the peace and stability.

Governor Angging calls for unity in fighting a common enemy whose ideologies are incomprehensible. The Governor points out in her message that extremism or terrorism has done nothing good but to sow hatred among each other, destroying our peaceful community by committing series of atrocities to human kind. Poisoning the minds of the people especially the youth by feeding them propaganda and misinformation. The youth sector is the most vulnerable ones in our society and we, as elders, we must protect them. We must always be vigilant. We must take the responsibilities in preserving the peace and unity in our own community.

“Extremism is never and will never be an option to achieve prosperity and development. Extremism will never bring food to our table. Extremism will never give good education to our children. Because all that it teaches are hatred, destructions, and killings,” Governor Angging stressed in her message.
