Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Matt Buyten of world-renowned Metal Mulisha Moto Team joined the Lanao del Norte International Motocross Invitationals on December 6 and 7, 2014 at the sprawling MCC racetrack, in capital town Tubod, this province.
Buyten more popularly known as the ‘B-10 Bomber’ in the Human Airshow scene displayed his FMX tricks and stunts in the Freestyle category of the bi-annual competition.
Buyten successfully crossed over from bicycle motocross (BMX) to freestyle motocross (FMX). He has competed and earned medals in multiple X Games events, winning four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals in the Step Up competition.
In 2013, Buyten’s accomplishments drew attention from FMX’s leading brand Metal Mulisha, and he soon inked a deal to become their newest member.
Lanao del Norte provincial government in partnership with SEL-J Sports has regularly hosted motocross events in its world-class Mindanao Civic Center sports complex. The province is recognized by both motocross organizers and riders as the ‘Motocross Capital of the Philippines’.
The latest motocross competition drew more than 200 riders from all over the country to participate in the different categories of the racing event.
The competition was the official kick-off event for the month-long celebration of ‘Paskohan sa Lanao del Norte’ organized by the provincial LGU led by Governor Khalid Dimaporo.
Riders competed in various categories – Beginner Production, Intermediate, 50 cc, 65cc, 85cc, Novice Open Production, Ladies, Underbone Novice, Underbone Open, Local Enduro, Executive A, Veterans, Pro Lites, Pro Open, and International Pro.
Also included in the Paskohan Festival is the concert tour of singer-actress Maja Salvador dubbed as ‘Maja Limitless’, a Mindanao-wide AutoCross Competition, and a world-class fireworks display on December 24 and 31, 2014. VNL/PIO-LDN
