Tubod, Lanao del Norte – More than one-million worth of medical equipment and medicines was turned-over to the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN) by representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) and Bureau of International Health.
The donation was from the Federal Government of Germany through Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau (KfW).
The objective of the medical assistance is to help local government units (LGUs) operate their health facilities and provide quality health service to their constituents.
Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau (KfW) is the implementing agency for this humanitarian initiative and provides assistance to poor and developing countries like the Philippines.
As one of the local recipients, the Lanao del Norte LGU received one pack of surgical drugs and medicines worth P649,225; 10 sets of obstetric and delivery kit worth P189,100; five sets of first aid kit worth P35,075; and two packs of surgical supplies worth P235,460.
Representatives from DOH and foreign donor KfW will be visiting the province later this year to assess how the medical equipment are utilized in government hospitals and to evaluate the effectiveness of their medical intervention program. LAR & VNL/PIO-LDN
