Tubod, Lanao del Norte – More than 130 officers of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network from all over the country converged at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) Hotel, in the capital town of Tubod, this province for their annual national convention on October 5 to 7, 2015.
This is the first time that their national convention is held outside of Metro Manila.
“It is truly an honor to be chosen as your host for this convention and to see personally the people who are in the forefront in our fight against malnutrition here in the Philippines”, expressed Governor Khalid Dimaporo during his speech.
Participants came from the 35 community radio stations located in different parts of the country from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi. Most of the delegates are composed of station managers, programming heads, production heads and head technicians.
Among the places visited by the convention delegates during their scheduled tour were the MCC sports complex, the scenic Brgy. San Juan in Baroy town and progressive Brgy. Maranding in the coastal town of Lala.
“When we go back to our respective cities and towns, we shall testify of the warm hospitality and peacefulness of your beautiful province. It’s no wonder why Lanao del Norte is known as the land of beauty and bounty”, said Maria Salve Regina Tenedero of DYNN-FM (Radyo Kasugbong) from Catubig town, northern Samar.
On the first day of the convention, Governor Dimaporo hosted a dinner for the delegates and gave out Acer tablets, digital voice recorders, bluetooth earphones, memory cards and USBs for the raffle draw.
For her part, 1st District Congresswoman Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo also encouraged the visiting media to continue in their advocacy for proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle. Congresswoman Dimaporo also distributed several android cellphones as prizes in the raffle draw.
On the second day, Lala Mayor Allan Lim hosted lunch for the delegates in Jurassic Park, Brgy. Maranding as the PGLDN dancers performed a traditional maranao courtship dance in front of the group.
“We are very much thankful to Governor Khalid Dimaporo and the rest of the Lanao del Norte provincial government for the very warm welcome and hospitalty extended to all the participants of the Nutriskwela Community Radio National Convention.
