Lanao del Norte Government Goes On with Relief Operations

Lanao del Norte Government Goes On with Relief Operations

The constant pace of relief distribution has reassured the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Marawi City and from others areas of Lanao del Sur who are currently taking refuge in some Municipalities of Lanao del Norte. The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in partnership with the Provincial Governor’s Office – Community Affairs Division (PGO-CAD) have delivered a total of 540 Packs of relief goods to the Municipalities of Kauswagan, Linamon and Tagoloan on June 13 and 14, 2017.

Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo is making sure that all IDPs be given the basic necessities needed in the evacuation center. Head of PSWDO, Annabelle S. Mendez has always been in contact with every Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer since the war broke out in Marawi City between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Maute/ISIS inspired terrorist group last May 23, 2017.

The Municipality of Kauswagan has sheltered 276 validated displaced families in its gymnasium and were given relief goods with the assistance of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development head Teresita M. Escalicas and staff. The MSWDO assigned in the Municipality of Linamon received additional 7 relief goods to be given to recent IDPs. The evacuation center in the Municipality of Tagoloan sheltered 257 displaced families according to Aida Macadingdang, head of the MSWDO.

Liniding Ampuan Tocalo with 12 dependents from Toros Marawi City is now staying in Madrasah, Dimayon Evacuation Center in Tagoloan. Narmia Dicatanongan Ato with 6 dependents from Marinaut, Marawi City momentarily stays with her relative in Dimayon. Narmia is thankful to Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo for the continuous support given to displaced families like them.

Internally Displaced families were given the Disaster Assistance and Family Card (DAFAC) by the Department of Social Welfare and Development for proper identification and easy access to relief goods during distribution. The PSWDO will check the DAFAC for verification which will then be marked by the staff’s signature and a coupon will be given before claiming the relief goods. The purpose of this process is for all IDPs to receive equal share of the goods, said Mendez. PIO-LDN
