As well it receives the Hospital D.O.T.S (Directly Observed Treatment, Short course) Regional Diamond Award and Excellence Award for 2016 at Mallberry Suites Business Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City last July 2017. This is due to its consistency in participating actively in TB DOTS Program of the Department of Health and Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCATs).
“Kauswagan is one of the municipalities na pinaka dako ang na catch na TB patients, which means active kaayo ang participation sa hospital ug sa health center to the extent nga na catch nila almost tanan nga pasyente nila nga mo ari nga positive sa TB,” said Dr. Tucal
The Hospital also received the New Born Screening Award for being consistent 100 percent compliance to New Born Screening, which means that all babies born in Kauswagan Provincial Hospital have undergone the New Born Screening Test, added the Doctor.

And on November 15, 2017, Kauswagan Provincial Hospital accepted the Certificate of Recognition from Philhealth-Iligan & Lanao del Norte for having the least Number of Claims Returned to Hospital. According to Dr. Tucal, In Lanao del Norte, it is only the provincial hospital that received such award, for more than a hundred claims they submitted to Philhealth, there were only four charts that were denied and only one was tag as returned to hospital. This is how efficient and effective the person behind this effort, our Philhealth clerk.
Kauswagan Provincial Hospital is a 10 bed capacity, licensed by the Department of Health to operate and accredited by Philhealth. The status of the hospital is infirmary and not considered as level 1 same with Sultan Naga Dimaporo and Balo-i Provincial Hospitals. Currently, the hospital is upgrading into a 20 bed capacity and the DOH is expected to conduct an inspection at any moment. Dr. Shorayna Tucal hopes that next year or if not the following year, Kauswagan Provincial Hospital will receive the Level 1 status in order for them to accommodate more patients.
Dr. Tucal also stressed that, Indigents who do not have Philhealth Insurance need not to worry when admitted to Kauswagan Provincial Hospital since the hospital is covered by the Medical Assistance Program of the Department of Health.
