Tubod, Lanao del Norte – “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan” Rural Farmers Training Program have produced 188 graduates on Monday, May 29, 2017. On this day, trainees of Batch 134 who have undergone the 12th week farmer’s training that started last March 3, 2017 were proud to celebrate this momentous event. First activity was the harvesting, trainees were happy to present their products to Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo together with the Municipal Mayors and Board Members of the Province of Lanao del Norte.
Muslim and Christian Farmers from the different municipalities of the province work together to take care of their planted vegetables, crops and fruit products by using the technologies and techniques they have gained during the training. According to Trainee Mosqueda from the Municipality of Kapatagan, she is very thankful for the program. She never thought of not finishing this course. She said, “Every session is very important, new knowledge and new techniques are being taught for free, I encouraged myself to be present every session to use these knowledge and skills in my own farm”.
Mr. Francisco “Frank” Cabrera Bihod, project consultant of the Office of 2nd District Representative is very hands-on on this program. “Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo has trusted me on this project and with the full support of Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo and 1st District Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza-Dimaporo, I will do my best not to fail them”, he said.
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte and the Offices of the 1st and 2nd District Representatives tied up with SM Foundation to help assist local farmers in the province by providing them enough materials, knowledge and technical skills.
Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo was grateful for the support of all partner agencies for the success of this rural farmers training program. HARBEST provided the agricultural technology through Mr. Salustiano Alla. Mr. Frank Bihod, a former municipal agriculture officer enthusiastically shared his experience and expertise for this “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan”. The Provincial Resource Management Center is in-charge for the marketing of agricultural products produced by the farmers involve in the program said Ms. Gemma Harun.
Atty. Donato Calica, legal consultant of the Office of Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo made mention that plans were made that a Farmers Training Center will soon rise in the agricultural grounds of the Mindanao Civic Center. The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) offered assistance to this program according to Mr. Frank Bihod.
Provincial Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo was glad for the positive feedback from the trainees. The smile on the face of all the trainees is a sign that this program has served its purpose. The Governor always supports programs that help alleviate the lives of the people of the province.
Mayor Barry Baguio of the Municipality of Kapatagan and Vice Mayor Jaber Maba Azis of the Municipality of Matunggao together with Board Members Grecille Matalines, Cesar Yap, Abdul Harris Ali, Tawantawan Cauntongan and Genesis Tura (ex-officio board member) attended the event to support the programs of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte.
