The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte in its own little way have organized a tribute to the bravery and heroism of the men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines who have fought relentlessly for years to repel any destabilisation towards the sovereign government of the Republic of the Philippines.
As mandated by the Constitution, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, is hereby directed in securing the land and serving its people. With these, the men and women of the country’s security forces faced all the challenges presented to them from all directions. With their determination of protecting the people paralleled with the right training they are able to stop and curb threats from rebel groups in the country primarily in the island of Mindanao where various Muslim militants are thriving aside from the constant threat of the New People’s Army, the armed militant group of the National Democratic Front.
On behalf of the people of Lanao del Norte, Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo felt and seen the sacrifice that these brave soldiers went through particularly in the recent Marawi Crisis, where more than a hundred lost their lives in the push to liberate the ones vibrant Islamic city. Their gallantry and nobleness made the country safe and these were deeply appreciated and recognized by the Governor which she then tapped Mr. Jose Mari Chan, the famous Filipino balladeer to sing for the soldiers at Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium on the evening of December 5, 2017.
“Galing po sa aming mga puso, sa ating mga sundalo , for you, we would really like to thank you sa isang tribute po na gagawin natin ngayon for protecting Lanao del Norte and its people. Kayo po ay ibinuwis niyo ang inyong buhay para ma proteksyonan niyo po kami dito sa Lanao del Norte and we always keep on praying for your safety. Mabuhay po kayo! and I would also like to thank the people who are here tonight for the support you have extended sa atin pong mga sundalo,” Governor Angging sincerely expressed what is in her heart.
When the Maute local terrorist group took siege of the city in the afternoon of May 23, 2017, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is in Russia for a State Visit, immediately declared Martial Law in Mindanao and tasked the AFP to crashed the enemy with all its might with reservation of preserving the lives of the innocent civilians who were caught between the line of fire and those who were held captive by the ISIS affiliated terrorists.
After five (5) months of intense air and ground campaign, the Armed Forces overrun the well-financed, well-trenched and well-positioned Maute terrorist group and freed not only the city but as well hundreds of hostages used as human shields.
When the military declared Marawi City liberated, President Duterte instructed the government agencies to consolidate for the rehabilitation of the city.
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte pledged its support in rebuilding Marawi. Since, the war broke out, Governor Angging, 2nd District Congressman Bobby and 1st District Congressman Khalid has appealed to all residents of the province to never allow or coddle individuals belonging to the terrorist group. In addition, the three Provincial leaders have asked the Municipal Mayors to constantly coordinate, collaborate and cooperate with the AFP and PNP by reporting any suspicious movement of any group not sanctioned by the government.
The efforts of the AFP, Philippine National Police, the Local Government Units and the Provincial Government has kept Lanao del Norte safe and secured despite of its proximity with the Province of Lanao del Sur.
With this, the Provincial Government through the leadership of Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo has come up with a humble idea to give thanks to the Bravery and Heroism of our Soldiers who are always ready to sacrifice their lives in defending the freedom of the people.
Almost 400 men and women from the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion, 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the 15th Infantry Battalion attended the event along with their Commanding Officers; Brigadier General William A.
