The Province remains peaceful where residents can freely engage in their day to day activities despite the declaration of Martial Law.
In Lanao del Norte, business as usual for the people of the province. Establishments are open, students attend regular classes, various government projects are successfully implemented, and the municipal and provincial government are functioning efficiently and effectively.
To preserve the peace and order of the province, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, the offices of the 1st and 2nd District Representatives together with the Sangguniniang Panlalawigan and the Municipal Government continuously worked hand-in-hand with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police in protecting the residents of the “Land of Beauty and Bounty.”
According to Governor Angging, all government units of the province are always vigilant to prevent any spill-over of the conflict between the Government Security Forces and the Maute terrorist group in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur coming in to the peaceful province of Lanao del Norte.
The Municipalities of Lanao del Norte bordering the Province of Lanao del Sur are at all times on their guard to deter any members of the terrorist group to hide or take shelter within the province. Governor Angging since the invasion of Marawi begun, tirelessly remind all Mayors in the hinterland municipalities to protect their area from any terrorist and to never allow any of these extremists to enter Lanao del Norte. The call of Governor Angging to all the Municipal Mayors to work together regardless of their political affiliations or interests was vital to the preservation of peace and order in the province. In one of her speeches, the Governor said, “Let us work together, and let us cooperate in protecting our beloved province of Lanao del Norte. Let us set aside our political differences for the sake of the people. This is the time to show the unity that we have here in Lanao del Norte.”
The successful implementation of the various programs of the government where one of these is the F/B Pagbabago of the Department of Agriculture through the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in partnership with the Provincial Government, the Offices of 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza-Dimaporo, and 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah “Bobby” Dimakuta Dimaporo with the support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and in coordination with the Municipal Mayors of Lanao de Norte.
This F/B Pagbabago is a livelihood program intended for the poorest of the poor fishermen of the province. A total of 300 units of fibreglass boats were equally allocated to the two congressional districts of Lanao del Norte. The beneficiaries where strictly identified by the staff of the two Congressmen along with the officials of each barangay with the help of the personnel from the municipalities.
On the other hand, the on-going war on drugs of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is undoubtedly supported by Governor Angging 101% together with Congressman Khalid and Congressman Abdullah. The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte and the Municipalities are constantly in touched with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the PNP to collaborate, cooperate and coordinate with each other for the success of the program. As of now there are more than 20 barangays that are considered drug cleared barangay and a number of barangays are still waiting for the validation and approval of the Oversight Committee before declaring their Barangay Drug Free.
Recently, during the conduct of the 6th Provincial Barangay Congress on September 6, 2017, the members of the Liga ng Barangay in the Province of Lanao del Norte expressed their support to the Anti-Drug Campaign of President Duterte. The Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3 was systemically discussed by PDEA Provincial Director Rodolfo S. De la Cerna. Cabanag, PNP Provincial Director has said during the Provincial Peace and Order Council Meeting that “The Province of Lanao del Norte is a peaceful province compared to some other provinces of the country. I even ride my motorcycle alone without any back-up, so meaning, I have not seen any threats. The residents of the province are peace loving people.”
Governor Angging encouraged tourists to visit Lanao del Norte and to see for themselves how peaceful the province is and how hospitable the people are. The Province of Lanao del Norte is the “Motocross Capital of the Philippines and The Home of the PBA in Northern Mindanao.” The province as well can cater Multi-Sport events or Conventions because of its world class Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex that can be found in the Municipality of Tubod. Aside from that, the magical Tinago Waterfalls, one of the famous tourist spots in northern Mindanao is situated in the province.
