On October 2, 2017, the Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo kicked off the famous Tulingan Festival in celebration of their 64th Charter Day. The theme of this year’s festivity is, “Kalampusan diha sa Kalinaw.” Municipal Mayor Ulwan M. Dimaporo and Vice Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo organized series of activities to commemorate the important event for the proud and peaceful residents of SND.
On this day, Mayor Dimaporo started the activities by Officiating a Mass Wedding Ceremony at the Municipal Grandstand in the town center, where the grooms and the brides performed a processional march inside the venue. Mayor Ulwan M. Dimaporo gave a short message to the brides and grooms before the signing of the Marriage Contract. Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Members, Andam Maruhom, Casan Colo and George Dayle witnessed the ceremony along with Vice-Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo, who shared an inspiring message to the newly wed couples. During the signing a representative from the Philippine Statistics Authority, Chief Osler M. Mejares personally assisted the couples.
In the afternoon, Drum and Lyre Ground Presentation was also held in the Municipal Grandstand. SB Members George P. Dayle led the invocation and Camalodin Abdul welcomed all the guests and audience. Mrs. Helma L. Galay, Central District In-Charge, DepEd, gave a brief message before the Drum and Lyre Presentation.
On the following day, October 3 at 7:00 am, the Department of Education in Sultan Naga Dimaporo celebrates Teacher’s Day at the Municipal Grandstand. Jadalhaqq Panggo and Amie Cuesta, lead the prayer for Muslims and Christians, respectively. Mr. Ervin M. Planas, Public Schools District Supervisor, SND opened the day’s event. A cultural show was presented by SND Central District, SND West District and SND East District. Mayor Ulwan M. Dimaporo in his inspirational message he expressed his delight in seeing the performance of the three School Districts of SND. And, at 2:00 in the afternoon in the Municipal Grandstand, a live concert featuring Idol Husseien and Prince Moks, who both entertained the residents of SND with their energetic and lively performance.
Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo joins the culmination program on October 4, 2017. Vice-Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo welcomed all the guests especially Governor Angging for her unwavering support to the people of SND. As a tradition, all barangays will prepare different cuisines of Tulingan (Mackerel Tuna) for the visitors to taste.
The highlight of the celebration is the presentation of Tulingan Festival Dance Showdown-Grand Slam Winner together with the faculty and staff of the Mindanao State University-Lanao del Norte Agricultural College in Ramain, Sultan Naga Dimaporo. A Plaque of Recognition was given to Barangay Calube for being the Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa. Municipal Mayor Ulwan M. Dimaporo thanked Governor Angging in spite of her hectic schedules, the lady Governor made time to join the celebration for the 64th Araw ng Sultan Naga Dimaporo and to Lt. Col. Ericson V. Rosana of the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the continuous partnership in sustaining the peace and order together with the Philippine National Police headed by Police Sr. Inspector Omar Tago. Mayor Dimaporo as well recognized the efforts of the members of the Sangguniang Bayan Chaired by Vice-Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo for the success of the Charter Day and for the stable security situation of the municipality with the support of the Barangay Chairmen headed by Ex Officio Board Member, Genesis E. Tura, Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Federated President.
Mayor Ulwan M. Dimaporo said that the people of Sultan Naga Dimaporo welcome the IDPs sheltering for safety in the municipality. “This 64th Araw ng SND will be simple yet worth enjoying.” He calls for the residents to keep on supporting the father of SND, Vice-Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo.
Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo was happy to be part of this important moment for the people of the Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo. The Governor expressed her sincerest gratitude to the local officials of SND for their solid support to the programs of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte. Governor Angging also cites the important contributions of the Municipality of SND in sustaining the peace and order of the province through the leadership of Mayor Ulwan M. Dimaporo and Vice-Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo together with the support of the members of the Sangguniang Bayan.
“I would like to thank Mayor Uloy and the Barangay Chairmen and of course the father of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Vice-Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo for being supportive of the programs in our province,” Governor Angging told the people of SND.
Board Member Genesis Tura, in his closing message, expressed his gratitude to all the guests particularly to Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo in joining with the celebration.
The Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo is one of the municipalities in the Province of Lanao del Norte that borders the Province of Lanao del Sur. When the Marawi crisis started, Governor Angging repeatedly appealed to all municipalities to prevent and report any terrorists to the PNP and AFP who will come and take refuge in the peaceful Province of Lanao del Norte.
