Food catering company wins big in ‘Paskohan sa Lanao del Norte’

St. Cecilia Choir of Kolambugan got the winning nod from the judges as they took home the grand prize of P20,000 during the culmination program of ‘Paskohan sa Lanao del Norte’.

Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Rianas Snack Inn and Catering Services, a local food catering company, bagged the top prize in the Christmas Lantern and Christmas Tree contests in the on-going ‘Paskohan sa Lanao del Norte’ Festival initiated by the provincial government through its Provincial Tourism Office.

“We worked from evening until early morning just to decorate our entries. And now seeing that many people came to admire these Christmas symbols make all the hardships really worth it. Winning a prize is just a bonus”, said Rianas’ Manager Loida Itang.
Top winners in the festival include Male Voices of St. Cecilia Choir of Kolambugan for the Christmas Carolling contest and DepEd-Lanao del Norte District for the Christmas Belen contest.
“We are truly happy to see so many people flocking to the Provincial Capitol grounds every night just to see the colorful lights adorning the creative entries of our contest participants”, expressed Provincial Tourism Head Minda Regis.
On December 16, the Tourism Office awarded winners of the four contests with trophies and cash prizes.
Other winners include Euchalette Choir (2nd Place – Carolling Contest) and Mukas National High School Choir (3rd Place – Carolling  Contest).  In the Christmas Belen contest, winners include LANECO, Inc. In the Christmas Lantern contest, winners include 15th Infantry Batallion – Philippine Army (2nd Place) and Green Valley Cooperative (3rd Place).
“We wish to thank Governor Khalid Dimaporo for his all out suppport to this festival. I would also like to invite everyone to bring their family and friends here at the Provincial Capitol grounds and feel the spirit of Christmas through these artistically crafted Christmas symbols”, added Regis.
Earlier in the month, the Lanao del Norte LGU also hosted the biggest motocross event in the country that attracted elite international and national riders to the Mindanao Civic Center racetrack, Tubod town.
