‘Doble Persona’ singing contest draws huge crowd

Calvin Cinco performs his female rendition of “Help” that won him 1st place in the ‘Doble Persona’ singing contest during the week-long celebration of 56th ‘Araw ng Lanao del Norte’.

Tubod, lanao del Norte – In celebration of the 56th ‘Araw ng Lanao del Norte’, DXNE (Radyo Kalambuan) in cooperation with Gold, Pink and Lavender Teams of the provincial government hosted the ‘Doble Persona’ singing contest at Agora complex, Bgry. Sagadan, Tubod on June 26, 2015.

The unique singing contest requires each contestant to sing to two songs, one as a male balladeer and the other as a female singer. With the contestants cross dressing and the comedic appeal of the competition, a mammoth crowd gathered at the sprawling Agora complex to witness hilarious event.
Radyo Kalambuan (94.3MHz) is the lone radio station broadcasting from capital town Tubod. This FM station is a grant from the National Nutrition Council to the Lanao del Norte LGU to help promote proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle in the cities and communities surrounding Panguil bay.
A total of 11 singing champions from neighbouring provinces and cities participated in the contest.  They were judged according to their diction, audience impact, stage personality and voice quality.
Winners of the singing contest include Calvin Cinco (Champion) from Pagadian City), Amelita Bacang (1st Runner-up) of Ozamiz City, and Mark Langga (2nd Runner-up). Winners also received P3,500, P2,500 and P1,800 for the Champion, 1st Runner-up, and 2nd Runner-up respectively.
Event sponsors like Nature’s Spring, Dunkin Donuts, and Motortrade-Maranding gave gift packs to all the winners and contestants. ‘Balay ni Lola Coyang’ restaurant also gave gift certificates worth P250. Non-winning participants received consolation cash prizes of P400 each. LAR & VNL/PIO-LDN
