Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Department of Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala visited the fast-rising province of Lanao del Norte for two-days to meet with farmers’ organizations and distribute various assistance from national government.
Secretary Alcala visited the province on April 22 to 23, 2015 and made stopovers in five municipalities. Among the towns he visited were Matungao, Tubod, Lala, Kolambugan and Kauswagan.
Lanao del Norte’s agri-sector received an estimated P300-million assistance during Alcala’s visit , ranging from livestock, farm machinery, equipment and implements, Open-Pollinated Variety (OPV) of corn, rice and assorted vegetable seeds, post harvest facilities, infrastructure, fishing gears, indemnity cheques and fresh milk.
“We really feel the progress and development under the Aquino administration. He (Secretary Alcala) is clearly delivering the marching order of President PNoy na ‘kayo ang boss ko’”, said Governor Khalid Dimaporo.
While in Lanao del Norte, Secretary Alcala attended the ceremonial harvesting using Combine Harvester, led the launching of a Municipal Food Terminal in Lala; attended the ‘Araw in Kauswagan’, listened to concerns of local farmers at several farmers’ forum and discussed the agricultural direction of the province with Governor Dimaporo.
“If only all the provinces can copy what you have been doing in your province”, observed Secretary Alcala.
During his visit, Secretary Alacala also announced the approval of a farm-to-market road with a project cost of P142-million pesos in Lala town under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
Also joining Secretary Alcala in the farmers’ forum were Vice-Governor Cristy Atay, DA Region-10 Director Lealyn Ramos, municipal mayors and vice-mayors, DA regional employees, provincial employees and barangay officials.
