PAGASA issued a series of Heavy Rainfall Warning advisories caused by the trough of the Low Pressure Area. The Trough of LPA brings moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms that may experience over the province of Lanao del Norte. Under these conditions, scattered flooding and landslides are likely in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and areas with significant antecedent rainfall. The public and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advised to take necessary measures to protect life and property.
 
However, on January 2, 2023, at around 5:00 PM all municipalities of Lanao del Norte experienced heavy rainfall. The LGUs from Kolambugan, Tubod, Baroy, Lala, Kapatagan, Salvador, and Magsaysay experienced massive volumes of water due to continuous heavy rains that caused flooding and some areas experienced landslides. The LGUs ordered Pre-emptive Evacuation to selected residents, especially those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
 
As of 4:00 PM today, the 7 municipalities have reported a total of 2,190 families or 8,231 individuals affected by the trough of LPA, with 3 confirmed deaths. Clearing operations are being conducted on damaged roads, some roads and bridges remained not passable. PIO-LDN
