TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, through the Provincial Cooperative Office (PCO), successfully ended the Cooperative Month 2022 through a Culmination Program conducted last Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium, Tubod town.
Minda Regis, Provincial Cooperative Officer, said, “Ang purpose ani is, gawas nga nag-join ta sa pagcelebrate sa Cooperative Month, amo pod gitagaan ug significance ang mga cooperative, nga importante sila nga sector sa atong probinsya. Mao naa tay Culmination Program para irecognize kung kinsa ang achievers nga cooperatives sa Lanao del Norte.”
During the program, ten (10) cooperatives with exemplary achievements received P100,000 each under the Initiative for Quality Development (IQD) Awards. Meanwhile, 20 cooperatives received P100,000 each thru the Cooperative Livelihood Assistance Program (CLAP) of the provincial government. This project is under the 20% Development Fund that aims to provide additional capitalization for micro cooperatives. It also aims to develop and promote the viability of cooperatives by providing financial assistance, enhancing productivity, and increasing the income of members, among others.
Virgilia Samaniego, Chairperson of Bualan Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative, expressed her gratitude as a recepient of the CLAP assistance, and said, “Dako kaayo among pasalamat especially kay Gov. Angging Dimaporo nga natagaan mi ani nga award kay matuloy-tuloy na jud ang among plani nga makaprocess ug banana flour. Gikan sa pandemic diin among kooperatiba, nihinay-hinay jud syag bangon.”
It can also be recalled that throughout the month of October, the PCO hosted various activities to give back to the communities, such as a management forum, health and wellness seminar, mangrove planting, cooking workshops, mass feeding, clean-up drive, and medical mission. Lanao del Norte cooperatives also showed their prowess in volleyball, choral, and even in dancing during the TiktoKOOP dance contest.
To make the annual celebration more memorable, some 667 lucky winners also received home items thru a raffle draw.
Present during the said culmination activity to represent Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo were Vice Governor Allan Lim, and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and Chairman of the Committee on Cooperatives Reinario Bihag. Representatives from the Cooperative Development Authority Region X (CDA-10) also graced the activity to present an award to the Provincial Cooperative Office. PIO-LDN
