TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – The members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), spearheaded by Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza, recently convened on October 11, 2022, for their joint meeting to discuss critical measures in addressing matters concerning peace and order, and illegal drugs in the province.
 
In the presentation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led by IA Vincent Cecil Orcales, PDEA Provincial Officer, from 462 barangays, they have recorded 316 total drug-cleared barangays in the province, 67 are still affected; 2 remaining unaffected and 77 certified unaffected barangays as of September 30, 2022.
 
According to their record, the municipalities of Kolambugan, Linamon, Magsaysay, Matungao, Nunungan, Pantao Ragat, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, and Tangcal are drug-cleared municipalities.
 
Crime clearance efficiency (CCE), on the other hand, decreased to 93.55% compared to 98.75% in January -September of 2021, while crime solution efficiency (CSE) went down to 74.97% compared to the 80.80% rate in the same period last year.
 
The LDN-Provincial Police Office under the supervision of PCOL Isaias Bacurnay Jr, also pointed out that the index crime of the province decreased by about 0.74% however, non-index crime has increased by about 9.95% compared to last year’s record.
 
Governor Angging recognizes the concerted efforts of the PDEA and PNP in monitoring crime and eliminating illegal activities at the community level.
 
Nonetheless, she also challenged them and said, “It seems that the drug problem is again on the rise. We need to act more proactively in addressing public order and safety concerns. Yet you are all doing good for your programs, I still believe that you can do better”.
 
For the security situation in the province, the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade has reported that generally, it remains normal and stable. For the density of non-violent activities, they have monitored 26 activities of the DI-Maute Group wherein most of these are visitation, harboring, and movement.
 
The troop assured to continue to stay and monitor the concerned areas. Governor Angging also calls the attention of the august body to curb all illegal activities in the province including the illegal cutting of trees.
 
She also appeals for the cooperation of all Barangay Chairman through their respective Local Chief Executives in monitoring illegal gamblings and night gatherings in their community – this is to ensure a better, safe, and peaceful Lanao del Norte. PIO-LDN
