CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – In celebration of the National Science and Technology Week sa Amihanang Mindanao, Lanao del Norte Governor, and Regional Development Council X (RDC X) Chairperson, Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Science and Technology Region 10 (DOST-10) for the deployment of multipurpose solar drying trays or PORTASOL, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
 
This initiative of the DOST-10 is implemented under the project “Utilization of Multipurpose Solar Seed Drying Technology for Increased Productivity and Enhanced Food Quality of the Agri-Fishery Sector in Lanao del Norte.”
All cities and provinces in Northern Mindanao benefited from this project and are bound to receive 80 units of the said multi-purpose seed drying trays.
 
DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations and Officer-in-Charge of DOST-X Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang led the said MOU signing. A plaque was also given to the governors to show appreciation for their undying support to the DOST 10.
 
Governor Angging expressed her appreciation to the DOST-10, saying, “Though we still do not have official beneficiaries yet, we are hoping that more of these projects will be received by the province for these will greatly help our small-scale farmers.”
 
The DOST 10, through its provincial office, PSTO Lanao del Norte, has identified the need to support the local communities by providing Science and technology interventions needed by the community to upgrade and sustain their source of livelihood such ad drying equipment technology trays for better and sustainable income and livelihood which are compliant to food safety standards and increase the value of commodity and product.
