TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – As a constant partner in capacitating every Local Government Unit (LGU), the Office of Civil Defense Region X, led by Regional Director and RDRRMC Chairperson Antonio B. Sugarol, conducted a 1-Day Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Orientation for Local Chief Executives (LCEs) and Local DRRMOs in the province of Lanao del Norte and Iligan City.
The orientation, held at the Multi-Purpose Building, Capitol Grounds, Pigcarangan Tubod, on September 15, 2022, is a refresher for the newly designated LCEs and DRRM focal persons who will be sitting as members of the response cluster.
During the meeting, a comprehensive discussion on the various hazards presented by experts from the warning agencies: the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) on hydro meteorological hazards and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-MGB) on rain-induced landslides, and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) on geological hazards.
Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Dela Cruz Quibranza appealed for the constant cooperation of every LGU in preserving our natural resources and protecting humanity in every disaster.
“I expect that LGUs will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation as we revisit RA 10121. May everyone internalize the four phases of disaster management, which encompasses prevention, mitigation, response, and rehabilitation”, Governor Angging said. PIO-LDN
