TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Dela Cruz Quibranza led the payout of salaries to the first batch of employed students under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Public Employment Service Office.
 
Over 48 students from the first group of 100 SPES for 2022 receive the Provincial Government’s 60% counterpart for the Php 519.64/day wages for their 20 days of work. Under the program, the PGLDN shoulders Php 6235.68 from the total amount of Php 10,392.80 salaries of SPES, and 40% will be paid by DOLE.
 
Margie Benemerito,22, SPES beneficiary from Malingao, Tubod said. “I’ve been a SPES baby since 2017, and I am grateful for this another opportunity for it helps me a lot in my journey as a student, especially in financial matters considering that my mother is unemployed. Way back then, with my SPES salary, I was able to buy new shoes, uniforms, and school supplies that I needed,” Ms. Benemerito is one of the SPES beneficiaries who graduated this year with flying colors. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from MSU-IIT with a degree in Bachelor of Physical Education.
According to PGLDN – PESO Designated Manager Evelyn Lopez, the SPES beneficiaries performed various roles and assisted PGLDN’s offices. To consider their hectic class schedules, PGLDN-PESO initiated to split the SPES beneficiaries into batches wherein the first group started last June 16 and ended on July 13.
 
Jocey Deval, mother of a SPES beneficiary ,Reca Shyra Deval, said, “Isip usa ka SPES beneficiary sad sauna, thankful ko kay usa ang akong anak sa mga naka-avail aning maong programa sa gobyerno. Dako kaayo kinig katabang ilabina karon nga nagkataas na ang mga tuition fee og sa lain pang panginahanglanon sa iyang pag-eskwela sa Cagayan de Oro”.
 
Governor Angging lauded the achievements attained by the students. She reminded everyone of the importance of cultivating not just knowledge and skills but also portraying good values as students and as children of this modern age. “May this cash will be put into good use. We are here to help, and we’re asking you to help us also, especially your parents. Remember to use it for your needs, not on what you want”, Governor Angging said.
 
The payout activity was held on August 12, 2022, at the Macapagal Training Center, facilitated by the LDN -PESO led by Ms. Lopez and Ms. Cesaria Perez from the Provincial Treasurer Office. PIO-LDN
