KAPATAGAN, Lanao del Norte – The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte marks another accomplishment in the area of health through the opening of a Hemodialysis Clinic housed at the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital.
During the turn-over ceremony on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, Governor Imelda’ Angging’ Dela Cruz Quibranza expressed her thanks to the Department of Health – Region X, headed by Regional Director Jose R. Llacuna Jr., who was also present during the momentous event, for including Lanao del Norte in their allocation for hemodialysis machines.
“Sad to say, daghan sa atong mga kaigsoonan that needs to undergo dialysis. Maong nangita ta og paagi og timely na naay programa ang DOH og naka apil kita niini aron sila maatiman,” Governor Angging said.
(Sad to say, many of our brothers and sisters need to undergo dialysis, so we looked for a way to address this, and it’s timely that the DOH had a program in place that we were able to avail so that they can be cared for.)
This building is funded by the PGLDN under the 20% development fund. The said clinic has a total of 10 Hemodialysis machines given by the DOH, which can cater preferably 20 patients per day, but the institution will primarily consider accommodating 7-10 patients per day to assess a smooth flow of operation. Dr. Hilario Abel Gomez will be the Nephrologist in charge of the operation of the said machines.
In her message, Dr. Grace Yañez, Acting OIC-Provincial Health Officer, highlighted the importance of the facility in addressing current issues and said, “More than 30,000 Filipino patients are undergoing dialysis, and this continues to grow every year. In fact, an estimated 10% to 15% increase in kidney diseases/cases per year has been projected by the DOH. “
“In our hospital in Baroy, we have 100+ patients waitlisted for this kind of treatment, and I am hoping that the DOH will not stop also giving more programs for health in Lanao del Norte and hopefully ma upgrade pud nato sa uban mga sakit ang mga equipments na naa ta diri sa atong Clinic,” Governor Angging added.
RD Llacuna, in an interview, said, “Kaning atong Hemodialysis Clinic is part of our Universal Health Care initiative. Ang Department of Health naghatag og technical assistance, including equipment, but in partnership with the Local Government unit kay sila man ang implementor sa different public health activities. Ilaha ang building, ang gasto sa maintenance, ilaha usab ang doctor. So this is a collaborative effort of both the national and local government towards a common goal – quality health service delivery.”
Also present during the event were Dr. Jovette Guinal, the Provincial DOH Officer, Dr. Remedios Fernandez, the Kapatagan Chief of Hospital, Dr. Marujeta Opamen, the Provincial Health Officer, Jocelyn Lontayao, the Provincial Resource Management Center Head, Noreen Lim, the Chief of Hospital Administrator, Engr.
