TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – Over 400 farmers from 46 barangays of the province joined the recently held Livestock Congress at the Mindanao Civic Center gymnasium on April 24, 2022. The office of the Provincial Veterinary, led by Dr. Fritzie P. Provido, facilitated the said activity mostly comprised of members of the Dimaporo Farmer’s Income Enhancement Program (DFIEP).
DFIEP was conceptualized by Cong Abdullah Dimaporo of the 2nd District. The slogan, “DFIEP, Alang sa Katawhan, Dugang Panginabuhian’, has aimed to alleviate livestock farmers by distributing farm animals since 2002.
In her message, Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza Dimaporo expressed her sincere thanks to all farmers for their unwavering support and understanding during the crisis, particularly during the breakthrough of the African Swine Fever (ASF).
“With this unforeseen circumstance, we had allotted a total of P3.3 million to compensate for over 1700 heads of culled pigs affected by the ASF infection”, Governor Dimaporo mentioned.
Dr. Provido of PVO gave Animal Disease Updates for the province.”ASF has been ongoing for about five months now. A stricter control is also advised as containment measures after initial confirmation of Bird flu in our country; as livestock farmers; you need to be more cautious and responsible with the animals”, Dr. Provido added.
As a reinforcement, PGLDN, through the initiative of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza Dimaporo, gave incentives and conducted raffle draws to the participants with livestock (Goat, carabao, cattle, and chicken) as the Grand prize and rice, rice cookers, electric kettles, and a refrigerator.
“May you take good care of these animals and technical support entrusted to you, and this will greatly help your firm and your respective families.” Cong. Dimaporo said.
As the founder of the DFIEP, Cong Dimaporo also appealed for their help in securing a fair and transparent sevice in the government, “if you see something our PGLDN employees shouldn’t be doing with our projects, don’t be afraid to report it to me,” he added.
Present also during the commemoration were Vice Governor Ma. Cristina Atay, former Provincial Administrator Ms. Sittie Aminah Dimaporo, incumbent Board Member Achmad Taha, and other board Member aspirants. PIO-LDN
