TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza Dimaporo graced the celebration of the Provincial Women’s Month Culmination held at the MCC Gymnasium on March 30, 2022.
After almost three years of not conducting such an event, due to the restrictions posed by the COVID 19 pandemic, Women Associations from different municipalities were all excited to participate in this year’s celebration. Over 2,500 women from the Municipalities of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Tubod, Magsaysay, Sapad, Baroy, Nunungan, Maigo, Kolambugan, Salvador, Kapatagan, Balo-i, Bacolod, Munai, Lala, Kauswagan, and Linamon, attended the one-day activity.
“If February is well-known as the love month, March is recognized as Women’s Month. This is a good opportunity to recognize the contributions of women to our society”, Governor Dimaporo said.
As she emphasized the importance of women empowerment, Governor Dimaporo also thanked the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), led by Ms. Annabelle Mendez, and other PGLDN offices and heads for the successful program.
Further, Vice Governor Ma. Cristina Atay appealed for the support of all women as partners in attaining the vision of 2040. Vice Governor Atay said, “Continue to be a good role model for your children. Let us continue to raise them with good values. Through this, we can assure that peace and respect will remain in our province”.
In order to ensure the safety of everyone, participants were all vaccinated and followed minimum standard health protocol such as wearing of face mask and being seated one seat apart. Aside from the presentations from different associations, the Provincial Government also gave additional items to all women participants through a raffle draw.
In a written message, Davao City Mayor and Vice Presidential aspirant Sara Duterte said, “May we all continue to work as one to promote the rights of every woman and be partners in providing a safe haven for our communities in the years to come.”
Cong. Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo of the 1st District, Cong. Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo of the 2nd District, Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo (the former PGLDN Administrator & 2nd district Representative Aspirant) also gave their respective messages empowering all women to continue to do better.
“We are known as the ‘Ilaw ng tahanan’, and I hope that our role in this society will be given more significance. Just like men, women are equally capable of performing tasks, so we deserve to be respected and beloved”, Governor Dimaporo added. PIO-LDN
