TUBOD, Lanao del Norte- The Provincial Volunteers from the Emergency Response Unit (ERU-143) and Provincial Volunteer and Health Workers (PVHW) recently held their Joint Congress on April 26, 2020, at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium. Over 9000 ERU and 1700 PVHW participated in the said activity. The conduct of such activity has always been the priority of the Provincial Government led by Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza Dimaporo to acknowledge and recognize the vitality of these groups in their respective community.
 
In her opening message, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer and Team Leader, Ms. Abeliza Manzano, thanked everyone for their patience and continuous participation. She reiterated that ‘this is the first congress where the two active and trusted bodies in the province have come together.’
 
As a refresher, the program includes a discussion regarding Disaster Relief Operation Management given by Ms. Annabelle Mendez, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer. Further, Mr. Arnel Dinglasa of the Philippine Red Cross – LDN Chapter also emphasized the importance of ERU volunteers as he recalled various functions and contributions done to their residents during adversities such as typhoons and the pandemic.
 
“As our direct and trusted field partners, we are very grateful for your help. We are appealing to your constant support as we continue to bring effective services closer to the people”, Governor Dimaporo said.
 
As part of their annual activity, the ERU-143 had a raffle draw wherein they gave 10kilos of rice, including a television, a washing machine, and a refrigerator, as the grand prizes. PIO-LDN
