BACOLOD, Lanao del Norte – To give the locals with proper education and awareness on the importance of the tourism industry, the PGO-Tourism Operations Division (PTOD) conducted a Community Tourism Awareness Seminar for 45 Bacolod floating cottages, pump boat operators, owners, and vendors, Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
 
In partnership with the Department of Tourism X (DOT10) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the activity was held at the Esperanza Function Hall, Bacolod town.
 
Alerma Grace Montañez, Provincial Tourism Officer, said, “With the rise of the tourism industry in Bacolod, we want to equip them with the proper knowledge that they can use as a beneficial tool for income-generation mechanism, particularly for those who live near and work in emerging tourist destinations.”
 
Decius Esmedalla, DOT X Chief Tourism Operations Officer, and Grace Lapeciros, DENR Environmental Management Specialist, were the speakers of the said seminar where they discussed the overview of RA 9593 or the Tourism Act od 2009, environmental protection, Do’s and Dont’s in tourism, and as well as basic health and safety protocol in handling visitors and guests.
“Through this activity, we hope to help them better understand the concept and gains derived from tourism,” Montañez added. PIO-LDN
