MCC, TUBOD – The Department of Agriculture Region X formally launched the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) Program in Lanao del Norte on January 26, 2022, held at Mindanao Civic Center, Sagadan, Tubod.
RCEF-RFFA aims to provide 5,000 cash assistance to the Registry System for Basic Sectors (RSBSA) – registered rice farmers tilling two (2) hectares below to give a subsidy, especially during these trying times brought by the pandemic.
Regional Director Carlene C. Dollado of DA-RFO 10 personally turned over the RFFA fund amounting to Php 42,309,150.00 to the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through Governor Imelda’ Angging’ Dimaporo.
“For the whole Region 10, there are a total of 35,800 farmers that will receive this assistance. We have started at Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Occidental, and this province will be our last stop,” Dir. Collado said
Over 22 municipalities, 19 municipalities will receive this cash assistance from DA, covering 8345 eligible farmers. The distribution started last January 26 until February 9, 2022 (schedules vary by LGU).
The program is in partnership with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) for the LDN area and the Land Bank of the Philippines for Bukidnon. Through the Universal Storefront Services Corporation (USSC), the FinTech partner started the distribution of cash aid to the pilot Municipality, Sapad, with 780 total recipients.
Aside from the cash aid, the farmers also received their Interventions Monitoring Card (IMC). It is a transactional card that will serve as an identification card for the agriculture and fisheries sector stakeholders.
“We are very grateful for the provision of President Rodrigo Duterte and for the officials of DA, especially in Region, for hearing our sentiments to help our farmers in the province,” Governor Dimaporo stated.
During the program launched, Director Collado was joined by other DA-ROF 10 key officials, such as Director Carlota s. Madriaga, the Regional Technical Director, Atty. Alberto Lagamon, Legal Consultant, Mr. Joel Rudinas, Technical Consultant, and Mr. Abdul Haris Paporo, the LDN – Provincial Center Chief II.
Meanwhile, the two active Congressmen of LDN, Cong. Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo of the 1st District and Cong. Abdullah Dimaporo of the 2nd District also conveyed their thanks and support to the Department of Agriculture and various farmers.
