TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – A week after the onslaught of tropical storm Odette (Rai) that severely affected parts of Mindanao and Visayas, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte conducted a relief operation to the affected municipalities in the province on December 24, 2021.
 
Ninety (90) corn farmers, 28 partially damaged, and six (6) totally damaged households in the municipalities of Kauswagan, Matungao, Bacolod, Maigo, and Kolambugan were visited by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to augment food and non-food item supplies to the affected families.
 
Through the collaborative efforts of the DSWD, PDRRMO, and the LGUs, the team has distributed 10 kilos of rice, pot, pan, two blankets, two mosquito nets, sleeping mat, and basin to each of the families.
 
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) also distributed food packs.
 
Ronel Yurong, a resident of Purok 2, Esperanza, Bacolod, was one of the residents left with a totally damaged home after being ravaged by typhoon Odette. He said that “Sakit kaayo mawal-an og balay pero dako gihapon among pasalamat na buhi mi sa akoang pamilya.”
 
(It was painful to lose a home but we are still very thankful that my family is safe and alive.)
“We are hoping to offer a continuous and expeditious provision of assistance to affected families and individuals in the municipalities heavily hit by the typhoon, especially those with totally damaged homes,” Annabelle Mendez, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer said. PIO-LDN
