A total of 1,320 ducks and 1,200 and chickens were recently distributed by the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) to 431 marginal farmers at the Agora Complex, Sagadan, Tubod.

Through the initiative of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, this project of the PVO was funded under the 5% GAD Fund of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte.

The recipients of the said program from the selected municipalities were marginal farmers that have a child that belongs to severely underweight children as evaluated by the Barangay Nutrition Committee.

Dr. Fritzie Provido, Provincial Veterinarian, said, “we have chosen beneficiaries from 12 municipalities, and the PVO is ready to assist them in monitoring the production stage of their ducks and chickens until the eggs hatch.”

Vitamins and feeds were also provided for the farmers, aiming to help farm families recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“May our farmer-beneficiaries of this free-range project successfully grow, double, or even triple the number of chicks that they received here today,” Reinario Bihag, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and Chairman of Committee on Agriculture, said.

SP Member Allan Lim also graced the event on behalf of Governor Dimaporo and said to the beneficiaries, “The poultry sector may be damaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Provincial Government always have your backs.” PIO-DLN
