Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Over 83 students from different Municipalities in the province receive their salaries from the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Through LDN – Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the beneficiaries served for 20 days in service and earned Php 498.77 per day in which the Provincial Government shouldered 60%, and 40% is by DOLE.
According to Ms. Evelyn Lopez, the Designated PESO Manager, the beneficiaries were deployed to different departments of PGLDN, and some worked at their respective Barangay offices.
On behalf of Governor Imelda Quibranza Dimaporo, Ms. Sittie Aminah Q. Dimaporo, PGLDN former Provincial Administrator, led the recent payout activity held at the Macapagal Training Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod.
Since the program was eventually implemented during her administration, Ms. Sittie Aminah Dimaporo attended the event to personally greet and ask the students about their working experience.
If we can recall, the orientation and launching of the SPES in the province this year happened last August. SPES is an employment program of the DOLE in partnership with local government units, which extends assistance through employment for those poor but deserving students.
Mr. Jeno Rey Baring,22, one of the SPES beneficiaries, expressed his heartfelt thanks to DOLE and the Provincial Government for the opportunity and assistance.
“SPES really helps me with my financial needs. As a college student, I have a lot of fees to pay, including books, dormitory rentals, and other school-related requirements, especially during our online classes wherein we need to payload bills to connect to the internet,” Mr. Baring said. PIO-LDN
