TUBOD, Lanao del Norte- Seven high-powered firearms from the Moro National Liberation Front were turned over to the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte during a simple ceremony held at the Multi-purpose hall at the Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center, November 18, 2021.
 
Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo received the Five (5) M16 rifles and Two (2) M1 Garand rifles from the members of Moro National Liberation Front of Sultan Sultan Naga Dimaporo town. The turned-over of firearms resulted from the whole-of-nation approach in the province to sustain the peace and inclusive development in the whole province.
 
Through this initiative, the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion Philippine Army strongly endorsed various agencies to provide financial assistance to 60 MNLF members organized as a People’s Organization registered to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE ) named as Ilian Banana Farmers’ Association (IBFA).
 
The IBFA members received a livelihood program and financial assistance from DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program worth P1.2M and Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the amount of P3,000 and food packs each for all of the members.
 
Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo lauded the concerted efforts of the Office of the 2nd Congressional District Congressman, Local Government Unit of SND, and the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion for this achievement, “we are working for this for so long, and finally here it is.” Gov. Dimaporo pledged support to whatever the province could provide to sustain this success.
 
Congressman Abdullah D. Dimaporo urged the IBFA members to improve their livelihood projects, manage their resources well, and work hard to open up more opportunities for their future generations.
 
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Julius Librada said, “this is just a dream because it needs a large amount of money, but because of the technical and financial support from different government agencies, it became a reality, and this handing-over of firearms is a gesture of their sincere intention to return to the fold of the government and cooperate in attaining real peace in their area, especially throughout Lanao del Norte.
 
Isha Macod, President of the association, expressed gratitude to the different government agencies, especially to the Provincial Government, 2nd Congressional District, and the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion that helped them change their way of living and let them feel that they are now truly part of the community and not left behind.
 
The concerted efforts of the Office of the 2nd District Congressman, Local Government Unit of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, DOLE- Region X, DSWD- Region X, and the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion in achieving lasting peace and economic and human development.

Batayola Jr, Deputy Brigade Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Julius C Librada, Commanding Officer of 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Director Bruce A Colao, Provincial Director, Department of Interior and Local Government Achmad Taha, Provincial Board Member, and Sangguniang Bayan Member Sultan Colo who represented Mayor Motalib Dimaporo of Sultan Naga Dimaporo.
