Tubod, Lanao del Norte – Some 121 families who survived from the wrath of Tropival Storm Vinta in December 2017 found their new hope and home in the remote village of Dalama in Tubod town this province.
Provincial Governor Imelda ” Angging”Quibranza-Dimaporo with Mayor Leoncio Bagol and Engineer Madeleine Gilda Abellara District Manager of National Housing, Authority joined hands and graced the turn-over and acceptance ceremony of the so- called Augmentation and Construction of Permanent Transition Shelters housing units Thursday November 11, 2021.
Jaime Carbonilla, the Barangay Chairman of Dalama, expressed his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Governor Dimaporo and to all benefactors of the said project He said,”Kinasingkasing ang among pagpasalamat ninyo Gov. Angging,gikan pa niadtong pagka hitabo sa bagyong Vinta dinhi sa Dalama.
“Halos kada-adlaw naa ka dinhi ug mi nimo pasagdi, hangtod karon naa ka kauban namo”( We sincerely thank you Gov. Angging, ever since the Typhoon Vinta you have always been supporting us along the way).
Barangay Chairman Cabonilla also expressed his gratitude to Congressman Mohammad Khalid Quibranza- Dimaporo, Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo, the NHA and the rest of the benefactors in providing conducive and safe houses for the survivors.
The collective efforts and support of the Provincial Government , Local Government Unit of Tubod of Tubod National Line Agencies such as NHA, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Red Cross, Girls Scout of the Philippines (GSP), Department of Health (DOH), National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and the League of Barangays.
Governor Dimaporo lauded the beneficiaries for their patience ,sacrifices and endurance to survive , that the long wait their hope and home village came into reality.
The Provincial Chief Executive also reiterated to everyone the importance of this village, where she appeals for their consideration and cooperation to sustain the cleanliness of the area.
Gov. Dimaporo said“sa gobyerno dili matrabaho ang usa ka project overnight lamang.”
“Nanginahanglan pa kini nga mo agi og legal nga proseso una pa kini matuman.”
“Mao nga nagpasalamat ako sa inyong suporta ug pagsabut matuman lamang kining mahinungdanon nga proyekto alang sa tanan.” ( In the Government, a project cannot be worked overnight. It still needs to undergo through a legal process before it can be completed. So ,I thank you for your support and understanding as we realized this crucial project for everyone.)
Gov. Dimaporo reminded everyone to be more accountable with our environment to prevent the tragic incidents that happened before. “Climate change has always been our problem but with our cooperation and sense of responsibility towards our nature, we can still have a safer and abundant domain that we can still pass on to our children’s children and to the next generation).
“Dili tanang tawo makadawat ani nga panimalay. Kini getagaan kamo og hamugaway nga pamuyo, hinaot pa unta nga maningkamot gihapon kita alang mouswag pa ang inyong panginabuhi alang usab sa inyong mga pamilya. Ampingi kini sama sa inyong gehaguan” (Not everyone has an opportunity to receive these coreshelter. With these new conducive units, may you continue to strive to improve the lives of your families. Take care of it as if you thrive for it.) she added.
Meanwhile, Mayor Bagol also said “Wala mo hunong ang local government sa Tubod sa pagpaningkamot makahatag lang og suporta sa mga na biktima sa Vinta. Busa, karon nanghinaot kami sa inyong tabang aron usab kini magpabiling hapsay. Matag karun ug unya, mubisita kami dinhi aron mapadayong mulantaw sa inyong sitwasyon”( The local government of Tubod has not stopped trying to provide support for the victims of typhoon Vinta. So, now we are asking for your help to maintain its order. Every now and then, we will also visit here to keep an eye on your situation.)
Benvinida Quijano,64, one of the beneficiaries and survivor said,” dili lalim ang among naagian atong bagyo, nahurot ug ka guba ang among balay busa ako kinasing-kasing na nagpasalamat kay Gov. Angging, sa NHA ug sa uban pang nagpaluyo sa paghatag namo og mga maong panimalay nga matawag namong amo.” (We struggled a lot during the storm, our house was totally destroyed, and so I sincerely thank Gov. Angging, the NHA, and the rest of them, for giving us a shelter that we can say our own.)
All the Sangguniang Bayan Members and various Barangay Captains of the Municipality of Tubod were also present in the venue to witnessed the momentous event.
Based on records from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, over a hundred were rendered homeless,29 were declared dead, and 16 were missing after the flashflood swooped down the village on December 17, 2017. PIO LDN
