TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN), through the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), turned over materials for the rehabilitation and maintenance of some of the fish sanctuaries in the province. Ms. Letecia Ditucalan, Provincial Agriculturist, led the hand-over of material at the Provincial Agriculture Office in Pigcarangan, Tubod, November 9, 2021.
Under the Fishery Resources Management and Development Program, the PAO distributed the materials, which include life vest, monofilament nylon, water pipe, and buoys/floats (basketball size & barrel type), to 10 accredited fisher folks associations, namely: Magoong -Samburon Fisherfolk Association (MASAFA) of Linamon, Barangay Kawit Fish sanctuary of Kauswagan, Brgy. Esperanza Fish Sanctuary in Bacolod, Brgy. Claro M. Recto Fish Sanctuary in Maigo, Kulasihan Fisherfolks Association in Kolambugan, Brgy. San Juan Fish Sanctuary of Baroy, Brgy. Matampay Bucana Fish Sanctuary of Lala, Centro Margos Fisherfolk Association in Kapatagan, Sugod Farmers and Fisherfolks Association (SUFFA), and Nagkahiusang Katawhang Mangingisda sa Pikalawag (NAKAMPI) of Sultan Naga Dimaporo.
With Ms. Ditucalan and PAO staff, Vice Governor Maria Cristina Atay and SP Member Reinario Bihag, the Committee Chairman on Agriculture, were also present in the ceremony to witness the remarkable event. Vice Governor Atay emphasized the continued support from the province.
Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza Dimaporo reiterated her commitment to fully implement various rehabilitation and recovery programs for all the sectors in the province, like the fisherfolks who were affected by the pandemic.
“We hope that you will properly utilize these materials while you strengthen your respective association’s productivity to elevate the living condition of each of your members,” Vice Governor Atay said.
Mr. Adelaido Laranjo, Jr., the Chairman of Brgy. San Juan Fish Sanctuary in Baroy town extended his gratitude to the PGLDN. “Nakita jud namo ang pagpaningkamot sa atong mga leaders sa probinsya, ilabina nila Governor Angging og Congressman Khalid Dimaporo, makahatag lamang og kanunay na suporta sa mga katawhan, lakip na kaming mga fisher folks. Isip pagbalik, pasaligan nga amo kining pagaampingan para sa atong mga fish sanctuary project aron mapalambo usab ang atong marine environment ug mapauswag ang atong food security.”(We really felt and appreciate all the efforts of our leaders of the province, especially Governor Angging Dimaporo and Congressman Khalid Dimaporo, in providing continued support to the people like fisher folks.
