The Department of Tourism (DOT), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Provincial Tourism Office, conducted a two batches seminar-workshop on ‘The Filipino Brand of Service’ on October 27-28, 2021.

With a total number of 60 participants from the different Tourism Related Establishments (TREs), the activity aims to promote excellent service in all the TREs in the province. To ensure that standard health protocols are implemented, the Ptourism divided the participants into 2 batches, Batch 1, held at Granaderos Beach Function Hall, Maigo, and Batch 2 at the Valley View Hotel Function Hall at Lala.

The Filipino Brand of Service is envisioned to represent everything good and positive about Filipino hospitality that all tourism stakeholders can use in dealing with domestic and international tourists. It should be a combination of the Filipino’s core values and the commendable service attitude. Filipinos are known to be malikhain, makatao, makakalikasan, makabansa, masayahin, may bayanihan, and may pag-asa.

The DOT and PTourism invited resource speakers who facilitated four training sessions on “The Filipino Brand of Service Excellence”, which is defined as consistently meeting and exceeding the needs of the guests or customers and providing them with memorable experiences; “Understanding and Engaging Guests”, which is anticipating and providing the needs of the various stakeholder groups, “Delivering Service Excellence”, which will provide techniques to assist and satisfy the requests of guests, and “Service Recovery”, which is responding courteously to complaints and resolving guest concerns.

Alerma Grace Montañez, the Provincial Tourism Officer, is grateful to the Department of Tourism for giving the time to educate the TREs in the province through the conduct of the said seminar despite the pandemic that is currently faced by all.

“With all the restrictions posed by the pandemic, let us take this time to continue enhancing our skills and educating ourselves to be better and competent in providing excellent, world-class service,” Ms. Alerma said. PIO-LDN
