Twenty (20) marginal farmers in Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte identified by the Barangay Nutrition Committee with severely underweight children received 20 ducks each from the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO).
Along with the ducks (18 females and 2 males), each beneficiary was also given one (1) sack of duck feeds and an incubator, ready for their laying ducks.
The distribution of ducks is taken under the 5% GAD project aimed to provide livelihood and nutritional requirements to households with malnourished children in the municipality of Poona Piagapo.
The farmers were very thankful to the Provincial Government headed by Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and to the PVO led by Dr. Fritzie Provido for the utmost support that is given to their families, which can surely help not just in their livelihood, but to also put nutritious food in their tables especially during these trying times.
Governor Angging aims to reach more remote areas and barangays in the province and make them avail of the various programs that are being offered by the Provincial Government.
“This is the true essence of Bayanihan, and this is an effective way of bringing the government closer to the people,” Governor Angging said. PIO-LDN
