The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, through the Provincial Cooperative Office (PCO) and in partnership with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), recently conducted a Pre-Registration Seminar (PRS)/ Fundamentals of Cooperative & Management Training for the Green Meadows Community Farmers Agriculture Cooperative held at the Macapagal Training Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod.

The Green Meadows, formerly known as Green Valley, is a cooperative mainly focusing on agriculture. Its members are composed of farmers and landowners from the municipalities of Lala and Kapaatagan, Lanao del Norte.

The PRS of the new members of the cooperative was presided over by Mr. Alvin Castro, Cooperative Development Specialist of the Cooperative Development Authority X. During his talk, he discussed the Nature and Characteristics of a Cooperative and how it is different from other typical businesses.

“Cooperatives are formed to serve the needs of their members, while corporations exist primarily to make a profit. We must be service, community, and people-oriented,” Castro said.

Provincial Cooperative Officer, Ms. Minda Regis, pledged the PGLDNs support in the operations and future endeavors of the Green Meadows. Along with all the PCO personnel, Ms. Regis offered her help in improving and training the cooperative members so that they would be equipped and ready.

“You are to establish your office, mission, vision, goals, and organizational structure to improve the cooperative as a way of life for improving the social and economic well-being of the members and the community,” Ms. Minda said.
Governor Anggig fully supports all the cooperatives in the province, for it does not only help boost members’ livelihood but also aims to help the community, especially during this pandemic. PIO-LDN
