Through the Provincial Veterinary Office, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte gave agricultural and livelihood support to farmers through the distribution of free-range chicken “Manok Pinoy” and ducks “Itik Pinas” on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the Agora Complex, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
This program is taken under the 5% DRR fund of PGLDN with a total project cost of PHP 1,492,000 that aims to benefit 400 livestock and poultry farmers to help them and hopefully mitigate the adverse effect of the pandemic on their livelihood.
The PVO distributed a total of 1,200 heads of free-range Manok Pinoy, 1,200 heads of Itik Pinas, 240 bags of feeds (5 kgs per chicken and duck), and 100 boxes of Multivitamins (wps).
Provincial Administrator Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo also graced the event to oversee the distribution and show her support for the cooperative beneficiaries.
“The livestock and poultry sector had significantly been affected due to many factors that include the temporary suspension of mass transportation and the closure of some trading posts (Bagsakan Livestock Auction Market). Thus, this program is to help the farmers provide animal health care services of livestock and poultry and eventually guide them in reproduction and redisperse the chickens and ducks to the next in line beneficiaries,” Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Fritzie P. Provido said.
The beneficiaries were deeply grateful to the PVO and the PGLDN headed by Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo for the provision and promised to take good care of their chickens and ducks.
Governor Angging aims to strengthen the promotion of government programs on the production of healthy food, especially during the pandemic, and to intensify the production of Manok Pinoy and Itik Pinas in the Province of Lanao del Norte, ‘The Land of Beauty and Bounty’. PIO-LDN
