October 1, 2021. Through the initiative of the Provincial Agriculture Office spearheaded by Ms. Letecia Ditucalan, with the active support of Governor Imelda Quibranza Dimaporo and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice-Governor Maria Cristina Atay, the turnover of Mechanical Rice Threshers to qualified and registered Farmers’ Cooperative Association in the province was made possible and was held at the Provincial Agriculture Office Compound, Pigcarangan, Tubod. It was also personally attended by the father of the province Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo, the 2nd District Congressman, along with SP Member Reinario Bihag, the Chairman of Committee on Agriculture.
This activity follows the distribution of various programs and equipment to those Low Land Areas during the year’s first quarter. Now, the beneficiaries of these machines are our Upland Rice Farmers cooperatives from various municipalities.
“We believe that these new threshers can give a lot of help to our farmers, especially in this new norm where we are still trying to raise the price of grains in our market,” Vice Governor Atay said.
With the support of the two Congressional Offices, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo of the 1st District and Congressman Abdullah Dimaporo of the 2nd District, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte continues to strive to provide assistance to our farmers and alleviate their lives from the effects of the pandemic.
“We deeply know the importance of farmers in our community, and we do understand your every concern, so I made sure that significant funds will be allocated to the agricultural sector next year to strengthen our campaign in uplifting their lives and for the entire constituents, “Governor Angging said.
During the program, Governor Angging also extends her genuine appreciation for the constant support of several cooperatives in the province. She also asked for everyone’s continued understanding and support of the ongoing health protocols, mainly that we still have recorded COVID 19 cases in the province.
Through this program, the Provincial Government not only aims to help the farmers with their harvest but also provide them with new methods that will help further grow their organization and livelihood for the benefit of their respective families.
In his message, Congressman Abdullah deliberated the goal of sustaining peace and development in the province. According to him, since we have proven our cooperation in maintaining order in the province in the past years, we should also pay more attention to improving the lives of our citizens towards a prosperous community.
“Peace will not last if everyone is suffering from poverty, so we must work altogether so that we can develop better for the improvement of our province,” Cong. Abdullah added.
The Rice threshers were turned over to Kahayag Farmers Association (Bacolod), Mag-uuma sa Magsaysay Agriculture Cooperative (Magsaysay), Pasayanon Farmers Association & Mag Isa-Isa Sta. Cruz Vegetables and Corn Farmers Association of Matungao, Cayontot Upland Rice Growers Association (Kauswagan), United Masibay Farmers Advocates Association Inc & Notongan Farmers Association (Nunungan), Cabasaran Poona-Piagapo Farmer Association & Kapamagogopa Farmer Association of Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte Highland Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (Pantao Ragat), Bagu Ingud Panatr Farmer Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (Pantar) and Barakah Farmers Association & Darimbang Farmers Association of Tagoloan.
For the improvement of their organization, Governor Angging encourages the beneficiaries to take care of the entrusted machines and always ask assistance or guidance from the Provincial Agriculture Office or to the supplier which is MEGAMYTE, to maintain its quality.
