Through the Provincial Agriculture Office, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, initiated by Governor Imelda’ Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, distributed garden tools and assorted vegetable seeds to 31 communal gardens from the municipality of Baroy, Tubod, Kolambugan, Magsaysay, and Maigo on Friday, August 13, 2021.
As assistance to Covid 19 affected gardeners, the project was funded out of the 5%DRRMF of the PGLDN implemented by the Provincial Agriculture Office under the Gulayan Program “Dagdag Pagkain and Pangkabuhayan”.
“This is just a beginning; there are 119 communal gardens left to receive the PGLDN assistance. These seeds and tools will greatly help the vegetable farmers cultivate their gardens and provide food in the table,” Provincial Agriculture Officer, Letecia G. Ditucalan, said.
Each farmer received a shovel, hoe, rake, nylon trellis net, water sprinkler, bolo, trellis twine, trowel, seedling tray, garden fork, and hand spray. Each also received cans value pack pinakbet, highland kangkong, pechay, patola, and cucumber.
Governor Angging recognizes the hard work of our local farmers, and she sees the need to somehow uplift their spirits and improve their livelihood by providing the necessary tools for their crops. She also thanked the PAO headed by PA Ditucalan and the MLGU’s for their support of this project. PIO-LDN
