July 26, 2021. During today’s Regional Awarding Ceremony conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region X led by Regional Director Albert Gutib, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) was awarded as the Regional Winner for the 2020 Secretary’s Bayanihan Service Award under the 2nd Class Province Category.
 
As a replacement of the Search for Best PESO Awards for 2020, this search was established to recognize the PESO’s initiatives and involvements in the government’s efforts to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in their respective provinces. This special award was given to acknowledge the vital role of PESOs who exemplifies effective innovations, resilience, and purposeful humanitarian service to the community most particularly during last year’s challenging moments.
 
The first virtual search was joined by several key officials from DOLE Region 10 including DOLE-X Assistant Regional Director Estrella Uy-Pahalla, Director II Athenus S. Vasallo, President of PESOMAP-X Ms. Kathleen Kate Sorilla, several Chief Executives and PESO managers from different cities and municipalities in the region.
 
The criteria for the evaluation at the regional level were divided into three important parts: (1) innovation=40% (2) resilience=30%, and (3)humanitarian service=30%.
 
In his opening message, Regional Director Gutib commends all the efforts and exceptional contributions of each PESO manager and staff including the incessant support of all Chief Executives in executing valuable actions and alternative approaches to alleviate the lives of the people most important to those Locally Stranded Individuals and impoverished groups greatly affected by the lingering effects of the pandemic.
 
With the award received, Governor Angging extends her genuine thanks to all national line agencies particularly the DOLE, for constantly supporting the province to aid the community despite the difficulty and risk. The active LDN Chief Executive assure to continuously be proactive in assessing and responding to the needs of the people.
 
The LDN PESO Manager Ms. Evelyn Lopez was also very grateful for the award received and she expressed her warmest appreciation to Governor Angging and to all personnel who helped them successfully pull out the true value and role of LDN PESO.
 
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte will use this recognition as an opportunity to further diversify our socio-economic state, create accessible programs for the needy, and enliven the spirit of all people in the province of Lanao del Norte. PIO-LDN
