As the Chief Executive of the Province and the Chairman of the two councils, Governor Annging presided the first virtual joint Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council Meeting (PADAC) via zoom at the Governor Conference Room, Gov. Arsenio A. Quibranza Government Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
 
Governor Angging extends her genuine appreciation to the presence of the council’s regular members – the DILG, spearheaded by the active Provincial Director, Mr. Bruce Colao, AFP, PNP, Municipal Mayors, Chief of Police from the different Municipalities, and other PGLDN officials led by the Provincial Administrator, Ms. Sittie Aminah Q. Dimaporo.
Despite the distance and various technical difficulties, the meeting became meaningful and effective, for it tackled several main points concerning peace and order in the province.
 
The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion under Brigade Commander Col Rey Alemania presented the updates from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, particularly in relation to those mobile terrorist groups that are expanding in the boundaries of Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur.
 
Furthermore, Lt. Col Julius Librada, the 5th Mechanized Infantry “Kaagapay” Battalion Commander, deliberated main points and concerns regarding the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawang Mindanao – Revolutionary People’s Army (RPMM-RPA). A 30-man team was established to act as an operating unit to further support peace and order and work on Private Armed Groups’ disbandment. Accordingly, the leaders and members of the RPMM-RPA are trying to reconnect with other citizens from some municipalities in the province to sustain their alleged extortion and other illegal activities.
 
With this, the AFP appealed to the council to intensify the Enhanced- Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) in the Province of Lanao del Norte. Through the collaborative forces of the 2nd Mech Infantry Brigade and 5th Mech Infantry Battalion, the AFP will continue to work on another milestone to address the existing threat of armed groups in the localities.
 
Under Provincial Director Isaias Bacurnay, the LDN-PNP recapitulated their office accomplishment in line with the campaign for Peace and Order. There is a significant decrease in criminalities observed from January-June 2021, especially in murder, physical abuse, and rape. They briefly presented also the campaign on illegal drug and illegal logging, rido settlement, and updates on the implementation of standard health protocols.
 
Governor Angging was delighted to hear all the improvements and efforts of the PNP and AFP in protecting Lanao del Norte despite the risk brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
“Contributing your best ideas and all-out support make our province a haven of peace is greatly appreciated. I hope that we could further solidify our strategies to eliminate illegal activities in the province, particularly cock-fighting that is still being practiced in some coastal and interior municipalities”. Governor Angging added.
 
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), through Mr. Davidson Aranton, discussed various achievements of the PDEA, most notably regarding the Barangay Drug Clearing in Lanao del Norte. Out of 482 barangays in the province, there are a total of 312 cleared barangays in which 50 barangays are Certified as unaffected.
 
“I commend all the efforts of the PDEA, LGUs, and Barangay Officials for this development. Hence, I still challenge everyone to sustain the order so that we can attain long-lasting peace in our beloved province,” Governor Angging emphasized.
 
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte spearheaded by Governor Angging, with the support of the two Congressional offices of Congressman Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo of the 1st District and the father of peace and development Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo and with the incessant support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan chaired by Vice Governor Cristy N. Atay, is continuously working with responsible National line Agencies and Local Government units to find silver lining despite the adversity. PIO-LDN
