The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, through Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza Dimaporo, joined the just-held 2nd Quarter Meeting of the Rehabilitation and Recovery Committee of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC -X) of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) via an online platform.
During the meeting, the council adopted several points arising from the previous assembly which includes updating the regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Plan of 2017-2022 and its timelines. The 2020 Regional Development Plan of Northern Mindanao was also presented for validation wherein big adjustments were made for it was being calibrated due to the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The conference also paved a way to discuss the current Socioeconomic Situation in the region including the Prospects and ways forward for Socioeconomic recovery.
There are over 108,389 workers affected by the reduction of workers due to the strict implementation of protocols to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in the region, thus, the RDRRMC-X formulated the 2020-2022 Northern Mindanao COVID-19 Regional Recovery Programs. This mainly focuses on response and early recovery to be more effective and responsive to emerging realities.
Furthermore, the system of IPA-LAMDAG Innovative Platform for Programs/Projects/Activities (PPAs) Location Assessment Monitoring and Budgeting for Development Planning and Governance was also presented during the meeting. This system aims to enhance planning preparations, monitor the implementation, and achieve efficiency.
Governor Angging attentively listened to the discussion to intensify the institutionalization of the establishment of DRRM to all LGUs particularly in the province. As a development partner, Governor Angging also assures NEDA of the continued support and actions of the PGLDN in implementing various programs amidst the pandemic to have an adaptive, safer, and resilient Lanao del Norte.
