In line with the Farm Tourism Program of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte Technical Working Group through the initiative of the Provincial Tourism Office headed by Ms. Alerma Grace E. Yorong, conducted a two-day Planning Workshop for Nunungan Integrated Tourism Development Program on March 1-2, 2021 at A&A Parklane Function Hall, Tubod.
 
The activity aims to gather inputs from different agencies for the crafting of Nunungan’s Integrated Tourism Development Plan that will provide conceptual framework to achieve its vision and was attended by various national line agencies, private sectors, and the LGU Nunungan headed by Municipal Mayor Marcos Mamay.
 
Alspo present during the workshop were DILG Provincial Director Mr. Bruce Colao, Farm Tourism /Poverty Alleviation Consultant Ms. Edelyn “Bulhing” Dela Cruz, Provincial Population Officer Ms. Ananette B. Daniel, Provincial Human Resource and Development Officer Ms. Eugenie P. Pusing, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Mr. Ramon G. Serapio and some representatives from the Provincial Agriculture Office and Provincial Planning and Development Office.
 
After the successful project in the Municipality of Magsaysay, Governor Angging made it her next project to develop the Municipality of Nunungan as a tourist destination for 2021.
 
During the two-day workshop, the group came up with consolidated recommendations and effective approaches, roadmap and framework to be followed instrumental in the realization of the town’s upcoming tourism projects as well as formulating a vision of maximizing the tourism potential of the town without undermining its natural heritage, biodiversity, and cultural values.
 
Mayor Mamay expressed his gratitude to Governor Angging and the Provincial Government for the given opportunity and the undying support to his municipality in the area of tourism and hoped that Nunungan, with its natural wonders will help promote Lanao del Norte and most of all, generate local livelihood to the constituents.
 
“The Municipality of Nunungan indeed has huge potential. We have 3 lakes, 5 caves, 4 waterfalls, and many overlooking areas; we also have the abundance of wild raspberries and I hope that our town will become the Wild Raspberries Capital of the Philippines”, Mayor Mamay declared.
Governor Angging and the two Congressional Office of 1st District Representative Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo and 2nd District Representative Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo support the efforts of the Provincial Tourism Office and the LGU Nunungan for not just boosting the tourism of the Municipality of Nunungan but also the whole Province of Lanao del Norte, “The Land of Beauty and Bounty”.
