The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the PGO-Tourism Operations Division headed by Ms. Alerma Grace E. Yorong, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), successfully conducted an orientation-workshop on DENR Permits for Department of Tourism (DOT) Accreditation to Primary Tourism Enterprises (PTEs) operators of Lanao del Norte on February 22, 2021, held at the Macapagal Training Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod.
 
The said activity was joined by various PTEs including hotels, resorts, inns and other accommodation establishment owners/operators here in the province. Currently, only 10 out of 45 PTEs in the province were accredited due to the difficulty in applying for DENR permits brought by the pandemic.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and Committee Chairman of Toruism Hon. Acmad Taha, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to the DENR for sending representatives here in the province to help, assist, and educate PTEs regarding the process of DOT accreditation.
 
Present during the workshop were Engr. Nonette Atason, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) focal person, Eng. Jan Karina Lapeña, the Permit to Operate (PTO) focal person, Engr. Josinna Ann Sanchez, the Water Discharge Permit focal person, Eng. Rose May Igdon, the Emergency Medical Services and Hazardous Waste Generator ID focal person, and Engr. Rasol D. Abantas of DENR-PENRO, who each imparted their knowledge, gave updates, and walked the participants to the step-by-step process of acquiring the necessary permits for accreditation.
 
Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo sees to it that all tourist destinations and accommodations in the province are strictly following President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s mandate to comply the required necessary documents addressing environmental protection. According to her, it is very important to work together and help the Accommodation Establishment and other Primary Tourism Establishments for a better and safer tourism in Lanao del Norte, “The Land of Beauty and Bounty”.
