A team of experts in the field of agriculture and tourism development recently convened with Lanao del Norte provincial officials to discuss their proposed “Tourism Development Interventions” for Nunungan town, the meeting was held at the Governor’s Conference Room, Provincial Capitol, Pigcarangan, Tubod town.
 
The said group conducted a site visit last week with multi-stakeholders’ to come up with consolidated recommendations and effective approaches instrumental in the realization of the town’s upcoming tourism projects. Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza Dimaporo and 2nd District Representative Congressman Abdullah ‘Dimakuta’ Dimaporo heeded some pointers shared by DILG Provincial Director Mr. Bruce Colao and Mayor Marcos Mamay on how to maximize the tourism potential of the town without undermining the natural heritage, biodiversity, and cultural values.
The conference highlights development discussions and innovative plans for tourism. In line with their framework, the team rundown several ideas in establishing sustainable agricultural tourism wherein it will showcase not just the beautiful view of the municipality but also the colorful tradition of the Maranao’s.
 
Furthermore, the idea of propagating and enhancing the land for wild berries was one of the highlights that the team discussed to further reserve its kind for it can only be found in the municipality. As a municipality rich in natural wonders like Mount Inayawan which is also a home of diverse wildlife, Governor Angging greatly believes in the potential of Nunungan to be one of the prominent tourist spot not just in Lanao del Norte but also in the whole Philippines. Unity, peace, development, and governance are a few of those strategic points that the team proposed to boost tourism and help the individuals.
 
“We are doing this for the people of this province so that they will learn how to cultivate the lands and most especially on how to preserve and care for our natural environment”, Governor Angging said. A follow-up planning workshop will be further organized to effectively accomplish the plan.
Through the help and assistance of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, the Local Government of Nunungan will strive harder to attain their goals for their municipality and to support the people’s livelihood in Lanao del Norte.
