Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and the father of peace, unity, and development, 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo together with Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo, and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-10 Regional Director Teodoro A. Bacolod, Jr., lead the groundbreaking ceremony of the Marine Multi-Species Hatchery in Barangay Koreo, Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo on December 3, 2020.
 
Congressman Abdullah in 2015 initiated House Bill 6086, seeking the establishment of a research station for fish-breeding and hatcheries for groupers, prawns, lobsters, crab, oysters, and other high-value marine species in the Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo and in 2016, Republic Act 10860, was enacted by the Senate and the House of Representatives, “An Act Establishing a Multi-Species Marine Hatchery in the Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Province of Lanao del Norte, and Appropriating Funds Therefor.”
 
Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo thanked 2nd District Congressman Abdullah for the initiative in establishing a marine multi-species hatchery in his municipality to benefit the fisherfolks of Lanao del Norte, the neighboring provinces, and the country. The Mayor also expressed his gratitude to Governor Angging for the all-out support extended by the Provincial Government to realize the project in partnership with the Provincial and Regional Offices of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
 
The 2nd District Congressman is pleased that the Sultan Naga Dimaporo Marine Multi-Species Hatchery is finally in the construction phase, and once completed, it will serve the intention of the good Congressman, to provide livelihood in the community and the Province of Lanao del Norte, as well as to neighboring provinces. The Marine Multi-Species Hatchery will be one of the country’s sources for high-value marine fingerlings.
 
BFAR 10 Regional Director Teodoro A. Bacolod, Jr., assures Governor Angging, Congressman Abdullah, and Mayor Motalib that his office will do its best to provide necessary assistance to sustain the operation of the facility. The Regional Director humbly requested Congressman Abdullah to help them in the House of Representatives in funding BFAR-10 projects.
Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Cherry N. Caballero, the Undersecretary for Agri-Industrialization and for Fisheries, in a message read by the Regional Director, expressed her support to the project and promised to uphold the provision stated in Republic Act 10860.
 
The total area of the Marine Multi-Species Hatchery is 4,617 sqm. on a 2-hectare land overlooking the picturesque Illana Bay and the neighboring province of Zamboanga del Sur, donated by the Local Government of Sultan Naga Dimaporo to fast-tracked the implementation of the project in realization of Congressman Abdullah’s vision.
 
Governor Angging sincerely appreciates the enthusiasm of BFAR-LDN Provincial Fishery Officer Noel M. Saldajeno by actively coordinating with her office and the support of Director Teodoro A. Bacolod, Jr. in the preparation of the project. The Governor also expressed her thanks to Mayor Motalib for the immediate response to the request for a site location to construct the facility.
 
The Provincial Chief Executive recognized the hard work of Congressman Abdullah and his sincerity to serve the people of the Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo and the Province of Lanao del Norte.
 
Governor Angging is hopeful that the Department of Agriculture through the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources will help fund to sustain the operation of the Marine Multi-Species Hatchery that benefits not only the Province of Lanao del Norte but also the country.
