Members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council convenes for the 4th Quarter Joint Council Meeting on November 17, 2020, at the Provincial Multi-Purpose Building, Pigcarangan, Tubod.

Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, the Chairperson of both Councils, expressed thanks to the members, and the attending non-members for taking time to participate and hear security updates straight from the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade under the Command of Brigadier General Facundo O Palafox IV and the peace and order situation from the Police Provincial Office headed by Police Colonel Rolindo M. Suguilon. The Provincial Office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency supervised by IA V Vincent Cecil M. Orcales also presented updates on the campaign against illegal drugs and the status of the drug clearing program in Lanao del Norte.

The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army pledge to continuously provide security in protecting the people of Lanao del Norte from local terrorists and other lawless armed groups and strengthen peace engagement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The 2nd MIB also committed its full support to the implementation of Executive Order 70, to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) in the province.

On the other hand, the Police Provincial Office (PPO), presented the comparative crime statistics between 2019 and 2020 from the period of July 1 to November 15. It indicates that the total crime volume is down to 8.91%. And after the presentation of the various operations and accomplishments, Governor Angging congratulated the PPO, particularly on the campaign against illegal logging and for filing legal cases against individuals involved in illegal logging activities, and also recognized the effort of Mayor Marcos Mamay of Nunungan for his sincerity in protecting the forest of Mt. Inayawan.

PDEA Provincial Office recapitulated its accomplishments in reducing the proliferation of illegal drugs through a series of anti-illegal drugs operations conducted in the province and Iligan City.

In Lanao del Norte, the Municipalities of Linamon, Nunungan, Pantao Ragat, Matungao, Magsaysay, Tangcal, and Sultan Naga Dimaporo are declared drug-free, while Kolambugan is waiting for official declaration, and Tagoloan is scheduled for final revalidation. The prospective Municipalities according to PDEA are Maigo, Sapad, Kauswagan, and Pantar.

Balay Silangan has also been established in the Municipalities of Linamon, Kauswagan, Kolambugan, Tangcal, Magsaysay, Tubod, Kapatagan, Salvador, and Sultan Naga Dimaporo to support the reformists.

PDEA Provincial Office commits to continuously implement and intensify its anti-illegal drug operations and will monitor the implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program, as well as, step up its intelligence gathering and thoroughly validate information, and will strengthen cooperation with other local enforcement agencies in the war on drugs.

It was also approved during the meeting the proposed realignment of the Peace and Order Utilization Program for CY 2020 for unimplemented Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) for funding allocation of COVID-19 related PPAs. The PPOC adopted a resolution approving the Peace and Order and Confidential Funds Utilization Program for CY 2021.

James Alih T. Abdul, the Program Manager of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Area Management Office-Northern Mindanao, presented the 13 PAMANA (Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan) Projects for 2020 in the province and distributed in the Municipalities of Kolambugan, Magsaysay, Maigo, Poona Piagapo, Sapad, Munai, and Tangcal.

Atay continuously strengthens coordination, cooperation, and collaboration with various National Government Agencies and Civil Society Organizations through the Provincial Peace and Order Council and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
