The Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team commend the measures practiced by the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte in managing the threat posed by Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 during the visit at the 2nd Mechanized Brigade, Barangay Maria Cristina, Iligan City on September 4, 2020.

Sec. Carlito G. Galvez, Jr., the Chief Implementer of the National Task Force against COVID-19 personally expressed his appreciation to Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo in earnestly handling the COVID-19 crisis in the province and by continuously enforcing necessary measures and health protocols through the Incident Management Team in curtailing if not suppressing the spread of COVID-19 in the communities.

One of the best practices of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Incident Management Team in coordination and cooperation with the Municipal Local Government Units is the strict observance and implementation that no individuals under monitoring or suspected after showing symptoms attributed to COVID-19 shall stay in their houses for quarantine, including the Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) and Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs).

LSIs and ROFs are encouraged to first coordinate with the IMT through the Balik Lanorte program of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the initiative of Governor Angging before planning their trip back to the home province. These individuals are then reminded to submit themselves for the mandatory rapid test and will undergo the 14-day quarantine period, either in the quarantine facilities managed by the Provincial Government or by the Municipal or Barangay, depending on the result.

Sec. Galvez, Jr., emphasized in his speech the importance of coordination, cooperation, and collaboration amongst government agencies and also with non-governmental organizations, including but not limited to civil society organizations, and private sectors.

The cohesive and responsive approach by all sectors of society, especially the general public will help limit and eventually defeat COVID-19 in the localities and reopens the once vibrant economy of the community.

Governor Angging expressed her earnest gratitude to Secretary Galvez, Jr., Sec. Martin M. Andanar and the rest of the CODE Team-NTF against COVID-19 for giving time to visit and hear the measures implemented by the Local Government Units of Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Iligan City and provide suggestions to further strengthen the fight against COVID-19, as well as extending assurance that the National Government will provide necessary assistance to LGUs on this side of the region.

Moreover, Governor Angging humbly thank President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the Bayanihan Grant to Provinces, which was utilized diligently for the construction of the Provincial COVID-19 Testing Laboratory in the Province of Lanao del Norte and purchase of other medical supplies, such as rapid test kits and other essential equipment and in the construction and renovation of the isolation and quarantine facilities of the Provincial Government.

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte together with the two Congressional District Offices of 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo, and the father of peace and development, 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo, and with the support of the Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan chaired by Honorable Vice Governor Maria Cristina ‘Cristy’ N. Atay and the Honorable Municipal Mayors, unceasingly finding ways to keep the government running by continuously delivering essential services, as well as protecting the health and security of the people of the Province of Lanao del Norte, “The Land of Beauty and Bounty.” PIO-LDN
