Technology is considered an essential tool that keeps communication efficient and effective in this modern time. The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte recognizes and deeply appreciates the importance of communication that keeps everyone on the same page. With this, the Provincial Government creates a Virtual Room in response to the current situation brought by the pandemic, it has adopted significant measures for the local government to be up and running by actively connecting and engaging with other government agencies from the national, regional and provincial through the internet.

This Virtual Room will play a big part in the Provincial Government’s daily operation, including the Incident Management Team in the management of COVID-19 matters, and updates with current issues, particularly on health, economic and social concerns faced by the country today.

In greater consideration of the employees’ safety, Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo immediately identified and designated a room at the Old Capitol Building where online video conferencing will be held without defeating the purpose to participate in the discussions. The room is also used for virtual court hearings of Persons Deprived of Liberty detained at the Provincial Jail instead of going to the Regional Trial Court in Iligan City or to any other Judicial Courts, outside the Provincial Capitol grounds.

On July 15, 2020, the first day of operation, two virtual Court hearings took place, one in the morning and the other was in the afternoon.

One PGLDN Jail Officer, a custodian of a PDL attending the hearing expressed his approval and satisfaction to the initiative of the Provincial Government in creating a virtual room and said, it is advantageous on their part, aside from preparing the necessary documents before the travel, it is also much safer than going out from the vicinity of the Provincial Capitol.
